Above you see the verbs hablar, estar and vivir in the past tense. Notice that comer and vivir use the exact same endings. That's because -er and -ir verbs use the same endings in the past tense. Below are the verb endings for the preterite (past) tense.

To talk about what you did yesterday, last weekend, and last summer, you'll need to learn to conjugate verbs in the past tense. Notice that there are some irregular verbs, like hacer, in the last chart.
