Latin American Revolutions 

In the 1400s, Spain started its empire building. See the map below: all colored areas once belonged to Spain.  

In the 1800s, Spain started to lose its Latin American colonies to wars of independence. 

The first one to start an independence revolution was Mexico.

The last one to gain independence was Cuba in 1898, when we intervened in their movement for independence in what became the Spanish-American War.
